What a Roads trip is

Not the fastest way through. The best way through.

A Polako Roads trip is a route of several days through mountains, coastline and the villages in between, put together by people who have driven it more than once. You sleep in places worth stopping for, and the detours are part of the plan rather than an afterthought.

We arrange the route, the vehicle, the driving, your stays and the guide. What we leave out is just as deliberate: no day that is nothing but getting from A to B, no viewpoint reduced to a two-minute photo stop. There is room to stay longer where you want to.

We do the driving A hire car for a smaller group, a minibus when there are more of you. Unless a trip says otherwise, you are in the passenger seat.

We have driven it ourselves

A route only goes on the list once we have driven it end to end, in the season you would travel it. Maps do not tell you which stretch is worth the extra hour, or which one is better left alone after rain.

Nobody pays to be on the route

No hotel or restaurant buys its way into a trip. If it is in the programme, it is there because it is good enough to be.

Kept up to date

The Balkans change quickly. Roads get resurfaced, places close, a ferry changes its timetable. We drive our routes again and adjust the trip when something no longer holds.
